Galaxy Ring battery life revealed by Samsung MX head TM Roh

0 30

Earlier this year, Samsung teased the launch of the Galaxy Ring. Yesterday, the South Korean firm finally showcased the Galaxy Ring up close, but it still didn’t reveal much about the fitness tracking ring’s features, pricing, or launch date. The company’s executive spilled some beans on the Galaxy Ring’s battery life during the ongoing MWC 2024 expo in Barcelona, Spain.

Galaxy Ring battery life expectations

Samsung MX (Mobile Experience) head TM Roh revealed that the Galaxy Ring can last anywhere from five to nine days on a single charge. That’s much longer than the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, which is Samsung’s longest-running smartwatch. However, it is not as long as the Galaxy Fit 3, which can last up to 13 days on a single charge. The device can be charged using pogo pins and a special adapter.

TM Roh also revealed that the Galaxy Ring can track blood oxygen saturation and sleep, thanks to the sensors placed on the inside of the device. That information is transferred to a paired smartphone and synced with the Samsung Health app. From the images released by Samsung, it looks like the Galaxy Ring can track heart rate, SpO2, steps, workouts, and sleep. However, the device likely can’t track outdoor workouts due to the lack of GPS.

The Galaxy Ring will come in three colors and several sizes. While Samsung hasn’t revealed the pricing of the Galaxy Ring, it could be slotted between the Galaxy Fit 3 and the Galaxy Watch 6, so a $100-$200 price range is likely. The device could be launched in the second half of this year alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
