Samsung hasn’t even launched the Galaxy Ring yet but the impending release already seems to have scared Oura into selling its Rings on Amazon. Oura is one of the incumbents in the smart ring market but the company has directly been selling its products for the past few years.

It shied away from selling its rings on Amazon, likely due to the significant margins that the world’s largest online retailer charges, for exposure to its vast customer base. However, given that Samsung is a household name and its smart ring would likely dwarf Oura’s visibility, the company has swallowed the bitter pill of finally selling on Amazon.

Oura finally sells its rings on Amazon ahead of Galaxy Ring release

Oura is now selling both the Horizon and Heritage iterations of its smart ring on Amazon. It will offer customers sizing kits through the retailer as well. Oura is evidently looking to expand its retail footprint before Samsung releases the Galaxy Ring, and to establish itself as a smart ring seller on Amazon, because Samsung would likely sell its smart ring on Amazon also.

Samsung hasn’t even revealed the full details about the Galaxy Ring as yet, only offering snippets of information, with the Ring only being shown off for the first time in person behind a glass box at Mobile World Congress 2024.

From what little we know of it, the Galaxy Ring will be available in a wide range of sizes in different finishes. It’s very light and comfortable to wear, and provides enhanced health, activity, and sleep tracking.

Samsung is a household name so it goes without saying that its smart ring will get a lot more exposure. Oura is understandably concerned about that and wants to make sure the Galaxy Ring doesn’t steal too much of its business. Whether it will succeed in making that happen remains to be seen. Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Ring later this year.
