Samsung Monday released the December 2022 Android security patch for the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 series in the US. The latest security update is now available for a few more Galaxy devices stateside. The Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S10 Lite, and Galaxy A52 5G are all picking up the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release).

The December SMR is initially available for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra in the US. Rolling out with firmware version G98*USQS3GVKA, the update comes shortly after the Android 13 release and expectedly doesn’t bring any new features or changes. It’s all about the latest vulnerability fixes. Samsung has already updated these phones to the new security release in most international markets. The unlocked units in the US should join the party soon. Perhaps unlocked Galaxy S20 phones will get the new SMR with Android 13. The big Android update isn’t available for those yet.

The Galaxy S10 Lite, meanwhile, only comes unlocked in the US and is awaiting the Android 13 update too. Unfortunately, the wait will continue. Samsung has released a new update for the phone stateside but only with the December SMR. The updated firmware version for this first-gen Lite flagship from the Korean brand is G770U1UES6GVL2, SamMobile reports. The international version of this phone has already picked up the big Android update widely. The December SMR should be available to those in the coming days. Galaxy S10 Lite users in the US, meanwhile, will have to wait longer for Android 13.

The Galaxy A52 5G also gets the December update in the US

The Galaxy A52 5G is another Samsung phone that is now picking up the December security update in the US. The rollout has begun for unlocked units with firmware version A526U1UES7CVL1. But sadly, Android 13 is once again missing. The carrier-locked units have already received the new Android version. The Korean firm has also released the big Android update in most international markets. Hopefully, it won’t be a long wait for the unlocked Galaxy A52 5G users in the US.

Nonetheless, if you’re using any of these Samsung smartphones in the US, you’re getting a pretty big security release. The latest SMR patches as many as 80 vulnerabilities in Galaxy smartphones and tablets, including a handful of critical ones. Install the update as soon as possible to stay safe from those vulnerabilities. You can check for updates from the Settings app on your phone.
