Galaxy S23 FE renders leak to show not-so-thin bezels

The Galaxy S23 FE may still be several months away, but the upcoming affordable flagship from Samsung has already leaked in high-resolution renders and a 360-degree video. Coming courtesy of renowned leakster Steve H. McFly, aka OnLeaks, the unofficial renders show us the design of the device from various angles.

Leaked Galaxy S23 FE renders reveal its design

The Galaxy S23 FE follows the same design philosophy as other 2023 Samsung phones, including the Galaxy S23 flagships. The so-called Signature Flagship Design gives us a vertically-aligned camera array on the back. The Korean firm has removed camera bumps this year, making each sensor protrude out of the back panel individually. We have three cameras here, some of which should be borrowed from the regular Galaxy S23.

The rest is all standard Samsung stuff. We have the power button and the volume rockers on the right side, while the left edge is free of any ports, holes, or buttons. The bottom edge houses the USB Type-C port, a speaker grille, and a microphone hole. While the renders don’t show the SIM tray, it should sit at the top alongside a second microphone hole. The edges look slightly curved, but the display is flat.

None of this is unexpected or surprising. However, the bezels around the display are certainly not what we have come to expect with flagship phones. The Galaxy S23 FE may not be a true-blue flagship, but it does sit above the mid-range category. Samsung should have treated it with a more premium look than what the renders show. We see thick, uneven bezels that don’t give a premium vibe.

While Steve is usually accurate with his leaks, we hope this is not what the Galaxy S23 FE will look like in real. Samsung needs to cut the bezels on all sides. The leaked renders don’t look too different from the Galaxy A54 5G. Last year’s Galaxy S21 FE looks more premium than the upcoming FE phone. With this design, Samsung may irk some potential buyers and miss out on some sales opportunities, even if the specs are promising.

The new FE phone will get flagship cameras

As said earlier, Samsung is expected to equip the Galaxy S23 FE with the same 50MP primary camera found on the back of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+. Powered by the Exynons 2200 chip, the phone will arrive with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. It should also get an IP rating for dust and water resistance, stereo speakers, wireless charging, and a dedicated telephoto zoom camera.
