0 18

Earlier this year, Samsung announced its new smart TV lineup at CES 2024. Most of its latest smart TVs feature the ability to display workout-related data of a Galaxy Watch user, allowing the user to adjust their pace accordingly and get real-time feedback. That feature is now actually available.

Galaxy Watch 6 update brings the ability to send workout data to Samsung TVs

The Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic have started getting a new software update in South Korea. This update carries a firmware version ending AXBL and brings the March 2024 security patch. It also brings the ability to send exercise data to Samsung’s new smart TVs released this year. As a part of this update, Samsung seems to have also released new firmware for the touchscreen of the Galaxy Watch 6 series, but the changelog doesn’t reveal what has actually improved with the screen.

The Workout Tracker feature on Samsung’s new TVs displays live workout data, including heart rate and workout duration, from a user’s Galaxy Watch on the TV. The data is displayed on top of a workout (or any other) video that is being played, keeping users entertained and informed at the same time.

This new update has a download size of around 285MB and is currently available only in South Korea. However, given how critical this update is for the company’s ecosystem, Samsung could release it in other countries sooner rather than later. The company’s latest smartwatches are still running One UI 5.0 Watch that is based on Android 13.
