Samsung will release at least two new foldable phones this year. The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 should hit the stage at the 2nd big Unpacked event of the year later this summer, and the supply chain is already moving pieces around. We just came across a live photo of one of the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s batteries at Safety Korea.
On February 6, the Korean regulatory agency certified a new battery manufactured by ITM Semiconductor Vietnam. Judging by its model number, the battery is designed for the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

For context, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 carries model number SM-F946, so it makes sense that the sequel will be identified as SM-F956. And the battery found at Safety Korea just so happens to carry model number EB-BF957ABY-L.
We even get a live photo of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 battery, but it doesn’t show any information about its capacity or other specifications. However, it does confirm the expected: the battery is placed inside an adhesive pouch with a pull tab, which will make it easier to replace and boost the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s repairability score.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will probably employ a dual-battery design, similar to the previous models. And we’re guessing that the EB-BF957ABY-L battery seen above is the primary unit. It’s also likely that the secondary, smaller unit will be tucked into its own adhesive pouch with a pull tab.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 may have bigger batteries, we found out last month. The same could also be true for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Older rumors say the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have a wider cover screen, and that Samsung may be working on another foldable phone that will employ either a rollable or a dual-folding display. It may go on sale this year.
