Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Flip 6 cross regulatory hurdle on the way to launch

0 18

Samsung will launch its sixth-gen foldable smartphones in a few months. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to go official at the end of July. The company has already started obtaining regulatory approvals for the devices, or at least the components. Last week, the upcoming foldables had their batteries certified by a couple of regulatory agencies. The batteries for both models have appeared in a regulatory database again.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Flip 6 batteries certified

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 picked up its first certification from the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards). The Indian regulatory agency approved its batteries with model numbers EB-BF742ABE and EB-BF742ABY, which are in line with the device’s model number, SM-F741. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 (SM-F956) followed a couple of days later with its first certification from Safety Korea with the model number EB-BF957ABY L.

The BIS has now certified more battery packs for the upcoming foldable duo. 91Mobiles spotted two additional battery certifications for each. The Flip 6’s batteries bear model numbers EB-BF741ABE and EB-BF741ABY, while those for the Fold’s 6 batteries are EB-BF956ABE and EB-BF956ABY. The varying identifiers likely indicate different manufacturers of the batteries. Samsung usually does that, sourcing batteries for its devices from various firms.

Unfortunately, we don’t have additional details. There are rumors that the new foldables will get bigger batteries than their predecessors. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is said to feature batteries with rated capacities of 1097mAh and 2790mAh for a total rated capacity of 3887mAh. That’s notably larger than the Flip 5’s 3591mAh battery (971mAh + 2620mAh). The advertised typical battery capacity could be 4,000mAh. It is 3,700mAh for the Flip 5.

The figures for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 are still a mystery. It is unclear if the bigger foldable will get a similar battery upgrade. There are chances that Samsung will keep the battery capacity unchanged at 4,400mAh and focus on making the device thinner. The new foldable will also be squarer than the Fold 5, making the cover screen wider. We expect early renders of the duo to show up in leaks soon.

Samsung may also reduce the display crease

A wider cover screen will address one of the biggest complaints with Samsung’s Fold-series devices. The other major complaint is the display crease. The Korean firm may be working on reducing the crease with its sixth-gen foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will also arrive with newer processors and the latest version of One UI. The camera setup may remain unchanged on both models. Stick around for more leaks and rumors.
