Google India’s Accelerator Program to help women entrepreneur

Google India has announced Accelerator Program for Women. Google India’s Accelerator Program aims to support female entrepreneurs in the early stages of business development and expand the local startup ecosystem. This is a part of a larger Google effort to increase the representation of women in all areas of India.

The Accelerator Program for Women-Led Startups will pay particular attention to issues like networking opportunities, mentorship, recruiting difficulties, access to funding, and many others but due to several social issues and poor representation cause difficulties for female founders. The 12-week accelerator program will give participants access to Google’s facilities and resources as well as mentorship and advice from internal and external experts. The accelerator program for startups gives women a digitally trained workforce, from entrepreneurship to professional upskilling to young graduates looking for a job. The overall goal is to make technology useful and relevant to everyone across the country.

The organization also says it provides training and assistance in subjects like user experience (UX), cloud computing, Android, the web, product strategy and growth, and access to a global network of women company owners.

Nearly 400 applications were submitted, and 20 women-led firms were chosen for the inaugural batch, according to Google India. It went on to say that these firms would benefit from its women-focused accelerator program in areas including access to funding, overcoming issues with hiring talent, mentorship, and other related hurdles encountered by women entrepreneurs. Aspire for Her, Brown Living, CoLLearn Education, Commudle, Dubverse, Elda Health, Fitbots, and other startups were selected.

“This program is part of a bigger commitment by Google towards enhancing the participation of women across diverse areas of India’s digitally trained workforce,” claims Google. “Be it entrepreneurship, professionals trying to upskill, or young graduates seeking a head start in their career.”

Google India announced at the time of its inception that it intended to roll out two cohort-based programs concentrating on Indian women entrepreneurs within a year.
