Since Google launched Maps, the company has added many advanced features to the platform. However, it hasn’t added a very basic feature, which is showing the entrance to a location or a building. Due to the lack of this feature, Google Maps directs you to the sides of buildings where there are no entrances, many times, and leaves it to the users to figure out the entrance to that location. Well, Google has finally figured that this basic feature is missing from Maps, and it is now adding it to the platform.

According to a new report from Android Police, version 11.17.0101 of the Google Maps app for Android shows entrances to a few locations in Germany and the US. Reportedly, the platform shows entrances with an icon that has an entry symbol inside a white circle. Furthermore, when you tap a location with this icon, the platform highlights it by turning it red, helping you distinguish it from other locations. The publication also reports that the platform shows entrances to a few locations incorrectly.

Reportedly, Google has rolled out this feature only to a select few users, which suggests that the company is testing the feature. At the moment, there’s no information about when Google will make it available to everyone. That being said, I expect Google to roll out the new feature to the public gradually in the next couple of months. However, it will take quite a lot of time for Google to add entrances to all locations.
