Google Messages now supports RCS on both SIM cards

0 12

At the moment, the stable version of the Google Messages app for Android doesn’t support RCS messaging on more than one SIM card at a time. Fortunately, that’s going to change soon.

In a new post on X (previously known as Twitter), @AssembleDebug has shared images of the settings menu of the Google Messages app which shows RCS enabled on two SIM cards simultaneously. With this feature, you can start a chat in the app with someone over RCS from any of the two SIM cards on your smartphone.

What’s even more interesting is that the app also allows you to switch between the two SIM cards in an RCS chat window. While the messages made using both SIM cards to a number live within the same chat, it is not clear how this scenario appears on the other end (if the other person gets messages in a single chat or different chats).

Currently, we also don’t know if the screenshots belong to a beta or a stable version of the app. If it is from a stable version of the app, then that’s great because it means that the feature is already rolling out. If that’s not the case, I believe that Google might roll out the feature to the public through an update soon as it is already functional.
