Google Photos now lets you delete album photos directly from the app

Google Photos is available by default on all Android smartphones, including our Galaxy devices. A lot of people rely on this service to save their images to the cloud. It’s a good service but Google Photos has been missing a basic feature for a very long time.
It wasn’t possible to delete photos directly from albums through the Android app. Google has finally made this possible but there’s still room for improvement.
This doesn’t extend to photos in shared albums
The ability to trash photos directly from an album has been available on the web version of Google Photos for years. However, this feature was missing from the Android app. You had to first remove the photos you wanted gone from the album, locate them in the library and then delete them from there. It’s an unnecessarily lengthy process.
Google has quietly made it possible to trash photos directly from albums in Google Photos but this option is only available for private albums. For shared albums, you still need to go through the entire process to get rid of the photos. It makes no sense why Google would leave out this crucial element.
What’s more mindboggling is that on the iOS version of Google Photos, it has long been possible to directly trash photos from shared albums. Why Google isn’t offering feature parity on the Android app remains a mystery.
One can only hope that Google makes amends so that it becomes much easier to manage shared albums on Google Photos.
