Google Pixel 7 Pro Users Suffering From Lag While Scrolling

0 54

Now that more and more people have the Pixel 7 Pro (and Pixel 7) in their hands, we’re starting to see some more issues with the phone. There’s a couple of threads over on r/GooglePixel now from users indicating their units are suffering from scrolling lag.

One user notes that it appears to only happen when they do short scrolls, as opposed to longer scrolls. It’s happening in a lot of apps too, not just specific apps. We have been using a Pixel 7 Pro on loan from Google for over a week now and have noticed this issue. And there are a few on Reddit that claim to not have the issue either. So it appears that it is not affecting everyone.

Some are reporting that the OTA available out of the box fixes it, while others say it does not. There is a potential fix right now. Which is to turn off the “Smooth Display” option in settings. Just head to Settings, tap on Display and scroll down towards the bottom to turn off the Smooth Display.

Bugs suck, but this one is livable

Last year, with the Pixel 6 series, there were a ton of bugs. And many took months for Google to finally fix them in a huge update that came out in January – 3 months after release. A big one was Google Assistant ghost calling people. Luckily, bugs haven’t been as prevalent on the Pixel 7 series so far, though it’s still early. And while having the phone stutter while you’re scrolling through apps does suck, it’s a bug that you can live with. Unlike the ghost calling, or it calling 911 whenever it feels like it – both are real bugs from the Pixel 6 series.

Google is aware of the bug, but hasn’t said anything about a fix just yet. Fingers crossed that Google does get a fix rolled out for this one pretty quickly.
