Have iPhone or Apple Watch? Check air quality this way

0 23

Living in regions with poor air quality, such as Delhi NCR, underscores the importance of regularly checking the Air Quality Index (AQI). Exposure to pollutants, allergens, and pollen in the air, all of these can lead to long-term health issues. The AQI, which ranges from 0 to 500, provides a daily report on air quality, with lower values indicating better conditions. Fortunately, tracking AQI is a breeze with your iPhone and Apple Watch, and we will guide you through the process.

Here’s how to check air quality on iPhone

1. Using Maps app

Explore the current weather conditions and air quality effortlessly using the Maps app on your device. Simply zoom in on the map until you spot the weather icon situated in the lower-right corner, providing you with the present weather conditions. In certain regions, you’ll also find the Air Quality Index (AQI) displayed in the same location.

2. Using the Weather app

A far easier way to keep track of the AQI is through the Weather app. As you must have seen, the Weather app is filled with different widgets such as precipitation, UV index, wind speed, and more. Among them, there is a widget called Air Quality. It will feature a gradient bar that changes color from green to yellow and to red. This will show the current AQI of your city.

Do note that in case you are living in a rural location where no AQI data is being collected, this widget will not be shown.

Checking Air Quality on Apple Watch

Just like the iPhone, a quicker way to track AQI is through your Apple Watch. There are two ways to do it.

1. The standard method is to go through the Weather app on the Apple Watch and check the AQI data there. Apple Support page also mentions that the AQI data will be available towards the end, so you may have to scroll a bit.

2. A quicker way to track AQI will be to use an AQI complication, as per a report by Business Insider. For the unaware, Apple Watch widgets are known as complications. Apple has a bunch of complications that you can customize. But not all watch faces support all complications. So, you may have to do a little trial and error, but once you find a AQI compatible watch face, you should be able to see the complication in the list. Simply select it, and you can track the AQI without even touching the display.
