Helldivers 2 receives a small fix to address cross-platform friend invites not working – Destructoid

0 11

Helldivers 2 received patch 1.000.103 today to the delight of mech fans. But hours later, the team snuck out a fix for something that has been a thorn in the side of the community. For those wanting to invite cross-platform friends, a new fix for Helldivers 2 has arrived.

The cross-platform friend invite fix was announced on the official Helldivers 2 Discord sometime after the big patch went live. According to Arrowhead Games’ community lead, Katherine Baskin, the patch was applied directly to the game’s backend. You probably didn’t even notice. The fix addresses three major issues (emphasis Baskin):

  • Eagle kill stats should now increase as expected
  • Missions Completed stats no longer count twice per mission
  • We have done three related fixes for friend invites that should resolve some of the issues with inviting friends. You will need to log out and log back in for it to take effect

Hopefully, the fix allows us all to be friends again, but “should” does appear to be doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Admittedly, the fix doesn’t seem guaranteed to address the issue completely. Helldivers 2 community members may still experience the cross-platform invite bug despite the fact that the devs have deployed it. Hopefully, most of us will be able to run some games with buds soon enough. I can’t test the fix at the current time of writing since all my friends have real jobs, but I’ll undoubtedly hit them up when they’re done making that bread. Or whatever it is they’re up to. We haven’t been able to match up for weeks.

The team did follow up the announcement with another message later in the Discord, saying the patch has caused some further problems. Players are reporting crashes, but Arrowhead is “deep down in the trenches digging into the issue as we speak.” As they say on Meridia, “When it rains, it rains a goddamn lot.”
