Here’s when Samsung Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and more will be getting Galaxy AI

Galaxy AI is coming to older devices in March

Through its Newsroom blog, Samsung announced that the OneUI 6.1 update will be rolling out to more devices by the end of March. Again, it hasn’t mentioned an exact date.

The list of devices includes:

  • Galaxy S23 
  • Galaxy S23+
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Galaxy S23 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold5
  • Galaxy Z Flip5
  • Galaxy Tab S9
  • Galaxy Tab S9+
  • Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra

Besides these, even Galaxy Buds is said to get Galaxy AI features with the S24 series. Samsung expects to expand Galaxy AI to “over 100 million Galaxy users within 2024“.

In the blog, Samsung has mentioned the following features, but mentions in the footnote that not all Galaxy AI features from the S24 series will be carried over to older Galaxy phones and tablets

  • Chat Assist: It uses AI to moderate or enhance message tone and translate messages in 13 different languages.
  • Live Translate: When you are on a phone call with a foreigner, the Galaxy AI will auto-translate the foreign language. The supported 13 languages are Hindi, English, Japanese, French, German, Korean, Chinese Simplified, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese.
  • Interpreter: This one is also a translation service which comes in handy when you are conversing with a foreign and you want to understand what they are saying and show them what you are saying means.
  • Circle to Search with Google: You trigger this service by hard-pressing on the home button and then circling on the thing you want to Google about. Yes, circle with your finger and voila, Google Lens brings up results. It can be a convenient shopping tool.
  • Note Assist: It lets you create formats, create AI-based summaries and translate notes.
  • Browsing Assist: It generates a summary of the page you are browsing.
  • Transcript Assist: It transcribes a speech in real-time.
  • Generative Edit: You can expand the corners of the image by letting the AI autofill a matching background. It also lets you retouch and remove unwanted people, animals, and objects from a clicked photo using this feature.
  • Edit Suggestion: It suggests changes to the photo and enabling which enhances the photo with those changes.
  • Instant Slow-mo: It lets you watch pre-recorded normal-speed videos in slow motion by adding extra frames.

Also, note that the Galaxy AI features will be available for free till 2025 only.
