0 59

The best-selling Honda Activa 6G automatic scooter will soon get a ‘Premium Edition’ model. The launch is expected to happen shortly, and Honda has just revealed the Activa Premium Edition on social media. The Activa Premium Edition looks like a stock clearance exercise given the fact that Honda is readying up an all-new Activa – the 7G (7th generation) model for launch soon.

Coming to the cosmetic changes on the Activa Premium Edition, the scooter gets gold coloured wheels and badges, a gold garnish on the front apron while the seat and footboard are finished in brown. Expect to pay a slight premium for the cosmetic changes on the Activa Premium Edition. The Standard version of the Honda Activa 6G sells for Rs. 72,400 while the Deluxe version sells for Rs. 74,400 ex-showroom Delhi.

Mechanically, the Premium Edition of the Honda Activa 6G will be unchanged. It’ll be powered by a 110cc, four stroke single cylinder engine that makes  7.68 Bhp of peak power and 8.84 Nm of peak torque. A CVT automatic gearbox drives the rear wheel of the scooter, which is known for its impeccable reliability, high refinement, sturdy build, high fuel efficiency and excellent resale value.

While the Honda Activa 7G is expected to bring a host of new features and also stylistic changes, the next major step for the Activa brand will be electrification. In fact, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India’s (HMSI) MD has revealed that the two wheeler giant is putting together an electric version of the Activa for the Indian market.

The Activa Electric will be Honda’s next big thing for two wheeled city mobility for the Indian market. The Activa Electric is expected to be relatively affordable, and Honda is said to be working on localizing many components to keep costs low. Meanwhile, here’s an official statement on the Activa Electric from Atsushi Ogata, the MD of HMSI,

In the past six months, we have had serious discussions with our team in Japan, where we are running a bunch of popular electric scooters. We have done our feasibility studies and now we are all set to embark on the actual development stage in collaboration with our Japanese engineers. With the prices of petrol going up, the demand for battery-operated scooters is on the rise. We are creating a ‘futuristic Activa’ which in itself will be a new segment that will cater to the additional requirements of short distance travel within the city in the urban and semi-urban regions.
