Honda City facelift leaked ahead of its launch, gets mild tweaks to its exterior
Honda is facelifting its most popular offering in the Indian car market, the City sedan, which will officially be launched on March 2. However, a few details of the new Honda City facelift, including its pictures, have already leaked ahead of its launch. These details show how the new version of the Honda City looks in actual inside-out.
To start with, the changes on the exterior of the Honda City look very minimal. There are some minor tweaks to the design of the front bumper, which now has more angular housing for the fog lamps. While the slim front grille of the new City looks more angular and gets a new honeycomb mesh design, the chrome bar running above it and extending above the headlamps has also become slimmer.
The facelifted version of the City continues to get the same all-LED headlamps. While the new version will retain all the colour options of the current model, there will be a new blue paint scheme on offer in addition. While the side profile of the City remains the same, save for a new design for the alloy wheels, the rear profile has been tweaked with a new rear bumper, which gets a new position for the reflectors and a diffuser in the middle.
The interior of the Honda City also receives minimal changes, while retaining the layout and dual-tone black and beige theme for the upholstery. The changes include only the addition of a few new features, the details of which are scarce for the time being. Expect Honda to add features like wireless charging and ventilated front seats, which are gradually becoming common norms in the sedan category.

Ahead of the oncoming deadline of BS-VI Stage-2 emission norms, Honda has pulled the plug off from its tractable 1.5-litre diesel engine, which claimed 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. Instead, the facelifted version of the Honda City will be offered in two powertrain options. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which claims 121 PS and 145 Nm and is offered with both a 6-speed manual and CVT, will continue to be the volume driver for the Honda City.
On the other hand, the new Honda City will also be offered with the 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain, which claims 126 PS and will be offered with an e-CVT transmission. It is speculated that the new Honda City will also be offered with the petrol-hybrid powertrain in lower-spec variants, unlike the current model, in which this high-tech powertrain is offered only in top-spec ZX trim.
The new Honda City facelift is expected to be slightly pricier than the current version, which is priced between Rs 11.87 lakh to Rs 15.62 lakh for the naturally-aspirated petrol variants. It will continue to rival the likes of Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna.
