In July 2023, Honor launched the Magic V2, a book-style foldable smartphone that is a successor to the brand’s first foldable device, the Honor Magic V, and a direct rival to the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Last month, the company launched a special edition of that device in collaboration with Porsche, the Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design. Honor is expected to launch the phone globally at MWC on 25 February 2024. Ahead of the global unveil, the reviews of the Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design have gone live, which reveal some interesting details about the device. Let’s take a look.

According to reviews (via MrMobile), the Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design comes bundled with a stylus, the Honor Magic Pen, an elegant-looking box to store that stylus, two chargers (one for European power outlets and the other for UK power outlets), and a leather case. With that, the Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design becomes the foldable smartphone with the highest number of in-box accessories that is currently on sale.

Honor Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design specifications

The Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design has the same hardware as the Magic V2, which we will discuss in a moment. However, it comes with a new design for the back panel, which has a “Porsche-style flyline” that runs the entire length of the back panel, and a new design for the camera bump, which also has a “flyline” design. According to the company, these two elements are “intricately reminiscent of the hood of a Porsche 911.

Coming to the specs, the Honor Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design has a 6.43-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2,376 x 1,060 pixels on the outside and a 7.92-inch LTPO OLED foldable display with a resolution of  2,344 x 2,156 pixels on the inside. Both screens have a 120Hz refresh rate and support for HDR10+. Powering the phone is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It is mated to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The phone runs on Android 13 with MagicOS 7.2. The phone, however, lacks an IP rating.

As for the imaging, the Honor Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design has three cameras at the rear, a 50MP wide sensor with PDAF and OIS, a 20MP telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom, PDAF, and OIS, and a 50MP ultrawide sensor with autofocus. Selfies are taken care of by a 16MP camera. The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery and features 66W wired charging. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and dual-band GPS. There’s also a fingerprint scanner in the outer display.

Pricing and availability

Expect Honor to announce the pricing and availability details of the Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design for international markets at MWC 2024. Multiple reports say that the company will make the phone available to purchase in Europe for a higher price than the Magic V2.
