0 30

The HONOR Magic5 Ultimate Edition has been announced by the company. This phone follows the HONOR Magic5 and Magic5 Pro, but unlike those two devices, it launched in China only. The other two phones have been announced for global markets too.

The HONOR Magic5 Ultimate actually comes with a different design compared to the Magic5 Pro. It does have very similar specs to its sibling, but there are some differences worth noting here.

The HONOR Magic5 Ultimate has different design, and a silicon carbon anode battery

It has a nano-ceramic curved glass on the front. That should improve drop resistance by 10 times, according to HONOR. This phone also comes with a special silicon carbon anode battery we talked about recently.

HONOR basically announced this battery during the global launch, but it will only be used in China, for now. This battery offers higher density than regular lithium batteries. It offers a 12.8% higher energy density. So you’re getting a 5,450mAh battery in a size of a 5,100mAh battery, basically. The device does support 66W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging.

The rear camera design is also changed. It has an octagonal shape. The mobile reception is also increased here, by 35%, the Wi-Fi speed by up to 200%, and the delay can be reduced by up to 90%. That should be useful in underground spaces, shopping malls, subways, and so on.

Both color options come with a vegan leather backplate

There is also a vegan leather back included in this version. You get to choose between Elegant Black and Burning Orange models here, as shown in the images provided below.

Now, in regards to the rest of its specs, they’re almost the same as on the Magic5 Pro. The phone includes a 6.81-inch 2848 x 1312 quad-curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 fuels this phone, while the company included 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage here. This is LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage, by the way.

The device is IP68 certified, and it includes stereo speakers. It also supports advanced facial scanning, hence the pill-shaped display cutout in the top-left corner.

It has three 50-megapixel cameras, and advanced facial scanning

A 50-megapixel main camera is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. HONOR also included a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (3.5x optical zoom, 100x digital zoom) here. A 12-megapixel camera sits on the front, along with a 3D depth camera.

The phone measures 162.9 x 76.7 x 8.77mm, and weighs 217 grams. The pricing starts at CNY6,699 ($966), and it’s already available to pre-order in China. This model won’t be making its way to global markets, as far as we know.
