How the SUV might look like

0 48

Mahindra as we all know is working on a much more practical 5 door version of their popular SUV Thar. Several test mules have been spotted testing in different parts of the country. The SUV is likely to be launched in the market next year. Meanwhile, we have seen several render videos and images of 5-door Thar on the internet. The test mules that are spotted recently are close to production version and we now have a fair idea on how the SUV might look like. Based on the recent spy videos, here we have a digitally rendered image that shows how the upcoming Thar 5-door might look like.

The images have been shared by bozzconcepts on their Instagram page. Coming to the image, the Mahindra Thar 5-door looks very similar to the current 3-door version. The front-end of the SUV gets vertical slat grille, round halogen headlamps and dual-tone bumpers. Just like the three door-version, the fog lamps on this version are also integrated into the bumper. In the render we can see a metal skid plate for underbody protection as well. The bonnet design, fenders all have the same design.

Coming to the side profile you would start noticing more changes. The SUV is longer than the regular Thar and that is because, it now has doors to access the second row seat. The wheelbase of the 5-door Thar will be longer too and that would translate into more cabin space. We feel that in this render, the second  row door feel too small and getting in and out through this door might be a challenge. In the test mules that we have seen on the road, the door feels slightly bigger than this. Similarly, the quarter panel also feels a bit odd. It should be noted that this is just a render and the production version might be different from this.

The design of the alloy wheels and the roof are all the same. Unlike the three-door version, Mahindra is most likely to offer the 5-door Thar with a hard top roof only. We have to wait and watch, if Mahindra would be offering the removable hard top like in Jeep Wrangler or not. As we move to the rear, the design once again is similar to the regular version. There are rectangle LED tail lamps and a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate. The test mule videos of Mahindra Thar look good and we feel just like the 3-door version, the upcoming 5-door version would also be a hit. All those people who were not buying Thar because it was not a practical car would now be attracted to the SUV.

In terms of features, Mahindra is most likely to offer the same set of features as the current one. It might get a bigger touchscreen infotainment syste, better speaker system. The seats are most likely to remain fabric as they are easier to clean and the seconds row passengers might get dedicated AC vents and charging port. As the SUV is now longer, it would also get a decent boot space than that of the 3-door version. In terms of engine, Mahindra will be offering both petrol and diesel engine options and they would be offered with manual and automatic transmission options.
