How to kill a Golem in Dragon’s Dogma 2

0 14

The colossal Golem from Dragon’s Dogma has returned in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and is more deadly than ever. Before encountered, the Golem will appear as just a pile of rocks. However, as you get close the magical runes on it activate, bringing the Golem to life. Here’s how to kill a Golem in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Tips for fighting a Golem

The best way to kill a Golem is to use blunt weaponry. While slashing weapons like swords usually do the trick, the Golems rocky body is actually resistant to it. So you’ll want to instead use blunt weapons such hammers, maces, and even unarmed weapons. If you are a Sorcerer, the spell Seism also does massive damage to the Golem.

The weak spot on the Golem are the glowing runes, located on his head, arm, and back of his legs. Focus your attacks on these runes and you will deal massive damage and weaken the Golem. You can also direct your pawns to mount the Golem and focus attacks on these weak spots to bring it down quickly.

You want to watch out for what I call the Golem’s laser missile attack. He will stand up and begin glowing in the face region as seen at the screenshot at the top of this guide. After channeling for a bit, a series of missile-like attacks will shoot forward out of the Golem’s face, dealing damage if they hit you. After a few seconds, all of the missiles will explode dealing further area-of-effect damage.

Thankfully this attack is pretty easy to dodge. Just watch for when the Golem starts glowing in the face region and run to the side of the Golem.

Keep focusing the glowing runes and eventually you will take out the Golem!

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Golem Cheatsheet

Here is our quick cheatsheet for how to deal with a Golem encounter:

  • Vulnerable to: Blunt weapon damage such as Warhammers, Maces, and Unarmed. Also, Sorcerer’s Seism spell
  • Weak Spot: The glowing rune spots. Each one takes bonus damage and should be focused throughout the encounter. One is located on top of its head, with the others on its legs and arms.
  • Resistant to: All five magic types, including Fire, Ice, and Lightning as well as Slashing Damage
  • Personality: This pile of rocks is held together by the runes located over its body, so you want to focus on those. However, the Golem is resistant to both magic and slashing damage, so ideally you want to use a blunt weapon or bow and arrow to focus the runes.
  • Additional Notes: Occasionally the Golem will stand up and look at your party and start glowing in the face region. He will aim in a certain direction and channel briefly then fire what are essentially missiles in that direction at the ground. These hurt initially, but also will explode after a few seconds causing massive damage. Be sure to run out from in front of the Golem when it stands up to attack.
