How to kill Saurians in Dragon’s Dogma 2 – Destructoid

0 16

The reptilian Saurians are one of the early enemies you will encounter in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The scaley snake-like creatures return from Dragon’s Dogma, and if you don’t know exactly how to deal with them, they can overwhelm you very quickly. Here is how to kill Saurians in Dragon’s Dogma 2 in the most effective manner.

Attack the Saurian Weakspot

You’ll often encounter Saurian enemies near water, as the reptilian creature prefers to reside by it.

The weak spot on the Saurian enemy is its tail. If you try to just hit the Saurian head-on, you will deal reduced damage to it, sometimes completely negating the damage entirely.

Instead, if you focus on the tail, you will not only do bonus damage but eventually can sever the tail completely off of the Saurian. Doing so will reduce its previous resistances, allowing you to now attack the Saurian anywhere and deal the normal amount of damage to it.

Utilizing slashing/slicing weapons such as swords is very effective for severing the tail. However, you can also simply deal enough damage with magic and bludgeon damage to eventually knock the tail off.

Saurians often swarm in numbers and quickly become an overwhelming force in battle. You basically want to focus one at a time, aiming to sever its tail, before moving on to the next.

As for the best magical damage, you want to use Ice damage attacks when fighting a Saurian. They are weak to Ice all over their body, and can easily be completely frozen. Of course, this will also make it easier to remove the tail when the Saurian is frozen.

While there’s no bonus effect for using Fire damage, it can also be effective as catching a Saurian on fire will cause it to roll around on the ground trying to put out the fire, making it an easy target.
