Starting in Q1 of 2021, the Huawei Mate X2 had between 40% and 50% of the market, but it had a sharp decline as the year went on. It hit below 10% around the third quarter of the year, as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 started at about 60% and 23%, respectively.
However, Huawei had an ace up its sleeve in the form of the Huawei P50 Pocket. This phone is the company’s clamshell foldable to rival the Galaxy Z Flip 3. This device launched in Q4 of 2021 and saw a meteoric rise as the Galaxy Z Flip 3 saw a sharp decline.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 ended Q1 2022 at just above 20% and the P50 Pocket ended the quarter at just below that. If both phones keep this trajectory, the P50 Pocket will surpass the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in terms of sales.

The lack of Google Play services and access to American customers is definitely a weight keeping the company down. While this is true, the company is still able to push forward.
