To further extend its reach in the market, the South Korean automaker Hyundai’s Indian subsidiary Hyundai Motors India recently launched a new base variant for its seven-seater SUV Alcazar. This new model has been coined the Prestige Executive trim and it brings down the starting price of the Alcazar to Rs 15.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Hyundai India added that this new base variant will come available with both diesel and petrol powerplants. The Prestige Executive trim will cost Rs 55,000 less than the standard Prestige model but for the amount, some features will be comprised.

The newly launched model, according to the country’s third-biggest automaker, will be missing out on the dark chrome door handles, an auto-dimming IRVM, and a burglar alarm. Furthermore, the 10.25-inch touchscreen display has been replaced by a smaller 8-inch device that retains six speakers and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability.

Although despite sacrificing these few features, the Alcazar Prestige Executive variant is still quite feature-rich. The list of features still available on the SUV includes LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and other conveniences are included. According to the company, when compared to higher-specced trims, the Alcazar Prestige Executive will also have a shorter waiting period.

As for the drivetrain of the Hyundai Alcazar Prestige Executive petrol-manual will be offered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This engine has a maximum power output of 159 PS and maximum torque production of 191 Nm. The diesel engine on duty here, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder oil burner with 115 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of maximum torque. This engine is available in the Hyundai Alcazar Prestige Executive with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The new Hyundai Alcazar Prestige Executive will be available in four variants: 6-seater diesel-manual, 7-seater diesel-manual, 7-seater diesel-automatic, and 7-seater petrol-manual. The petrol-manual Hyundai Alcazar Prestige Executive costs Rs 15,89,400, the diesel-manual costs Rs 16,30,300, and the diesel-automatic costs Rs 17,77,300.

Recently, Hyundai also updated the cabin of the Creta quietly. It now gets a piano-black finish around the infotainment system and the centre console. Earlier, it used to be just a dull plastic finish. The steering wheel also gets piano-black inserts now. This piano-black finish was earlier spotted on the Knight Edition of Creta that was recently launched.

Meanwhile in other Hyundai-related news, late last month, it was reported that the Korean automobile manufacturers Hyundai and Kia have been raided by German authorities because their vehicles are suspected of using emission defeating devices. The authorities believe that 2,10,000 diesel cars sold by Kia and Hyundai are using illegal defeat devices. According to media reports, eight business offices of the automakers were raided in Luxembourg and Germany. The operation was coordinated by European Union Agency Eurojust. The raids were confirmed by a spokesperson from Hyundai Motor Group, representing both Hyundai & Kia.
