Hyundai Elite i20 facelift leaked before official launch

0 38

Apart from minor updates to its variant lineup and necessary compliance with revised emission and safety regulations, not much has changed in the third-generation Hyundai i20 since its launch in 2020. However, reports suggest that Hyundai is working on a facelifted version of the i20, which is expected to arrive on Indian shores in the coming weeks. Images of this upcoming facelifted Hyundai i20 have leaked on a Korean online platform AutoSpy, which appear to be production-ready and feature some visible tweaks.

In terms of its exterior, this facelifted i20 isn’t a drastic makeover compared to the current model. The headlamps have been slightly tweaked with curved outer edges and feature all-LED illumination, similar to the headlamps of the new fourth-generation Verna.

While the grille looks the same as before, the front bumper is new with boomerang-shaped air curtains and a sportier-looking front splitter.

The facelifted Hyundai i20 looks unchanged from the side, but the car does get a new set of alloy wheels. At the back, the design of the LED tail lamps with Z-shaped LED inserts and boot lid looks the same as the current model. However, the rear bumper has been updated with new reflector housings and a new design for the rear diffuser with silver garnish.

Updated cabin

A single image of the interior of the facelifted Hyundai i20 has also been leaked, which shows that the cabin layout has been retained with the same all-black theme. However, the most prominent change in this refreshed i20 is the new full-TFT instrument console, which looks the same as that of the Alcazar. Other than that, the cabin seems to retain the current list of features, such as the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, and wireless charger. It is also expected that the new i20 might include a few new features like ventilated front seats.

Hyundai recently discontinued the diesel variants of the i20, and the hatchback will now only be available in a petrol-only form. This means that the new facelifted i20 will retain the 1.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged 83 PS petrol engine and the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged 120 PS petrol engine from the current version.

The facelifted version of the Hyundai i20 will first launch in its home market of South Korea, followed by other prominent markets including India. The new i20 will continue to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz.
