0 60

The Hyundai Exter, the latest sensation in the SUV market, has achieved a remarkable milestone by crossing the 1 lakh bookings mark in India. Launched in July 2023 at an introductory price of Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom), the Exter has been making waves with its captivating design and impressive features. The model reached earlier milestones of 50,000 and 75,000 bookings in August and October 2023, respectively.

Available in seven variants, namely, EX, EX (O), S, S (O), SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect, the Hyundai Exter offers a diverse range to cater to different preferences. The SUV comes with a competitive price range starting at Rs. 6.35 lakh and going up to Rs. 10 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).

Under the hood, the Exter boasts a powerful 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that delivers a robust performance of 83 BHP and 114 Nm of torque in petrol mode. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox or an Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT) for the petrol variant. Additionally, the Exter offers a CNG variant, where the power figures are slightly reduced to 69 BHP and 95.2 Nm of torque, exclusively equipped with a manual transmission.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the CNG variant achieves an impressive mileage of around 27.1 km/kg, while the petrol variant offers a commendable 19.4 kmpl. Despite its cost-effective positioning, the Hyundai Exter ensures no compromise on features. It comes equipped with factory-fitted dashcams, automatic projector headlamps, keyless entry and start, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, and built-in navigation.

Safety is a top priority for the Exter, incorporating six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill assist control, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors and camera, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers.

Since its launch on July 10, 2023, the Hyundai Exter has consistently made a significant impact on the Indian automotive landscape. With its attractive design, feature-packed offerings, and competitive pricing, the Exter continues to be a popular choice among SUV enthusiasts in the country. In India, the chief competitor of the Hyundai Exter is the Tata Punch, a micro SUV that has been a hot seller right from the word go. Like the Exter, the Punch is available with petrol and CNG options currently. The Punch will soon get an all-electric version, and this will further cement the vehicle’s position as India’s number one micro SUV. It’ll be interesting to see if Hyundai responds with an electric version of the Exter.
