Hyundai’s micro-SUV almost ready; Launch in India in 2023

0 36

The news of Hyundai launching a new micro-SUV and positioning it below the Venue has been doing rounds for quite some time now. In a recent development, a new micro-SUV from Hyundai has been spied under trial runs in South Korea, which has fueled the arrival of this new offering in India once again. Hyundai created the same effect when it launched the micro-SUV Casper in 2021, however, it was rejected in the Indian launch plans by the Korean car maker. It is believed that the new micro-SUV spotted recently is the one which is coming to India.

The new micro-SUV from Hyundai was spotted parked in a parking lot in South Korea under heavy camouflage. However, some of the design highlights are still visible in this form of the micro-SUV. Firstly, this new micro-SUV from Hyundai will have a split headlamps design, with daytime running LEDs partitioned from the separate housings for the projector headlamps, much like in the Hyundai Venue. The grille is also expected to get a parametric design theme, as seen in the recently launched Tucson and the upcoming Creta facelift.

Moving to the side profile, the new micro-SUV from Hyundai is equipped with 15-inch tyres wrapped over machined alloy wheels. Unlike the Casper, which gets its rear door handles integrated into the C-pillars, this new micro-SUV gets conventional handles for the rear door panels. At the back, it looks like the new micro-SUV from Hyundai gets squared tail lamp clusters, much like the pre-facelifted version of the Venue. However, like the facelifted Venue, this micro-SUV might also get an LED light bar connecting the tail lamps.

The micro-SUV is also seen with gloss black roof rails and a single-pane sunroof. The interiors of this micro-SUV are not visible in the spy pictures, however, this new micro-SUV is expected to get a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument console and wireless charger in its list of contemporary features.

Powertrain details are not out yet

Nothing much is confirmed about the powertrain options to be available in this micro-SUV. However, it is confirmed that it will be sold as a petrol-only model. It might share the 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated 83 PS petrol engine as well as transmission options of 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT with the Grand i10 Nios. However, in the range-topping versions, Hyundai might also offer this micro-SUV with a detuned version of the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, much like how it does for the Grand i10 Nios.

There’s a possibility that Hyundai might put this micro-SUV on display at the Auto Expo 2023. If it happens, expect this micro-SUV to get launched in India in the second half of 2023. It will be introduced as a direct rival to the Tata Punch and Citroen C3.
