The BMW R71 seen in the picture is one of the most preserved treasures in the motorcycle collection of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, which was seen for the first time in public. This motorcycle was first launched in 1938 in Germany and remained on sale for only a year. The production of the BMW R71 was stopped in the wake of World War II, during which a few R71s were sent to the Netherlands, where the motorcycles were used by the then Dutch army during the World War II era.

During the one-year course of its production, BMW made 2638 units of the R71. All these units were powered by a 746cc flat-twin engine, which made it one of the most powerful motorcycles of its time. The BMW R71 owned by Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the 500 units of R71 which are known to be in existence in today’s era, which makes it one of the rarest motorcycles to exist right now. A heavily-inspired version of the BMW R71 is made even today by Russia-based IMZ-Ural, though in a more modernized form.

The antique BMW R71 is one of the crowned jewels in the motorcycle collection of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, which consists of a bunch of two-stroke and four-stroke motorcycles from the vintage era. Besides the R71, Dhoni also owns a few units of Yamaha RD350, RX100, Suzuki Shogun, vintage motorcycles from Norton, Jawa and BSA, and many more. Besides motorcycles from the previous era, Dhoni also owns a few modern motorcycles like Kawasaki Ninja H2, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, Harley Davidson Fat Boy and the ultra-rare Confederate X132 Hellcat.
