India’s First Privately Imported Ford F-150 Raptor Is Here: Spotted In Chennai
While Ford is planning to make a comeback to the Indian market, we already have a group of enthusiasts who have been bringing Ford trucks to India. Although we’ve seen many people import Ford trucks to India via Carnet, here we have a video where someone actually decided to take things to the next level and imported a brand new Ford Raptor and got it registered in India. The video, shared by Car Crazy India on their Instagram page, was recorded by a car enthusiast in Chennai. A few days ago, we came across images of this Raptor, but back then, it was not officially registered. Now, in this video and the recent images, we can clearly see that the truck has been registered in Karnataka. The state of Karnataka has a good population of expensive and exotic cars, and the recently imported Ford F150 Raptor will only add to its charm.
Currently, we don’t have much information related to the owner of this truck. The Raptor is finished in their popular Blue shade. As the car rolls down the streets of Chennai, we can see a car following the SUV on a scooter to capture the video. Unlike cars and pickups sold in India, the Ford F150 Raptor is a huge truck. In the images shared by SCEII841, we can see a Ford Endeavour behind the Raptor, and it looks small in comparison.

We only have the images and videos of the truck circulating on the internet; there is no clarity about the engine options. Internationally, the Ford Raptor F150 is available with a variety of engine options, including a 3.3-liter V6, 2.7-liter V6, 5.0-liter V8, 3.5-liter V6 Hybrid, and a 3.5-liter V6 engine. All these engine options are offered with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It is also an extremely capable off-road truck. The high ground clearance, good approach, and departure angles are all useful during off-roading.
We have seen several videos of YouTubers bringing this truck to India via Carnet. However, this is the first time someone has actually privately imported it and got it locally registered. We do not know the exact price that the customer would have paid for this car, as it was imported for a specific customer. The customer would have definitely paid more than double the actual price of the truck.
Ford F-Series trucks are among the most popular in the world. One of the bigger siblings of the Ford F-Series trucks, the F650, is already here in India. It was brought to India via Carnet by Kerala-based businessman Boby Chemmanur. The truck was in the news lately for its road presence and also a video where the businessman was seen dancing on the roof of the truck in his recently bought 1,000-acre tea estate. The car community in India is growing, and we hope to see more such people bring in or import such unique-looking cars to India in the future.
