0 53

Looking for a phone with fast charging on the cheap? The Infinix Note 30 VIP has you covered. It offers 68W wired charging solution, which is among the fastest in the class, but also 50W wireless charging, which is unprecedented at its price point.

The Note 30 VIP’s predecessor, the Note 12 VIP, had considerably faster 120W wired charging, but the 30 VIP goes for a more balanced approach, where you don’t need a cable for a quick top-up. This is one of the few phones having wireless charging in the first place in the sub-$300 category, let alone one as quick.

That’s why we figured we’d run our usual charging tests and see if Infinix can deliver on its ambitious goals. It’s important to mention that to achieve the top wireless speed you’d need the proprietary 67W charging brick, which you have to buy separately (a 15W wireless charger is included in the retail package). On the other hand the wall charger is included and it supports Power Delivery over PPS. The charger offers 5V/2A, 11V/6.2A or 4-21V/3.25A for a maximum rated 68W.

Without further ado here’s how the Note 30 VIP stacks against the similarly priced competition in terms of charging. We have not included wireless timings for the rest as they simply don’t support it.

As you can see, the Infinix Note 30 VIP isn’t the fastest-charging smartphone in its class but it’s definitely among the best. It’s just a few minutes shy of the Poco X5 Pro and it’s just as fast as the Redmi Note 12 Pro, Both with 67W charging solutions.

However when it comes to wireless charging we were properly surprised as how close it gets to the wired one. The 50W wireless charging pad is just a percentage points behind the 67W wired charger on the 15-minute and 30-minute marks. The gap widens as time goes on, but only just. So if you are after a budget phone and have a liking for wireless charging this is definitely one to consider.
