info edge apps: Google reinstates some delisted apps including Naukri, 99acres, Shaadi
Info Edge India founder and vice-chairman Sanjeev Bikhchandani said in a post on X, “Many of the Info Edge apps are back on the play store.”
“An effort very well led by Hitesh and the entire Info Edge team. People were up all night for this. Great crisis management,” he added.
Earlier on Saturday, Info Edge had said in a stock exchange filing that it was reviewing and evaluating the next course of action, while working with Google to get the apps reinstated.
Google on March 1 said that it has begun taking action against 10 Indian companies for non-compliance with the Android-maker’s billing policies, which app developers have opposed.

However, the reinstatement is not to the full level of expectations of Indian internet companies.
People Interactive’s CEO Anupam Mittal, confirming that Shaadi was reinstated on the Play Store, told ET that the app in its current form does not have an in-app billing system.
“It’s as good as no app,” Mittal said, adding that the company cannot afford to deploy Google’s billing system, under which app publishers have to pay 11-26% commission on the payments.
Some app publishers, including Shaadi, have still chosen not to deploy Google’s user choice billing system, which attracts the commission that they are opposing. Instead, the apps are now offering payments externally — outside of the app, which, sources say, avoids the commission but also becomes inconvenient for users, thereby having an impact on revenue.
