Infosys: Infosys inks deal to acquire chip design firm InSemi

The acquisition is expected to conclude in the current quarter, India’s second-largest IT company said in a statement.

It will strengthen Infosys’ engineering R&D capabilities and help provide comprehensive end-to-end product development for clients as semiconductors are a key piece in the technology driving growth in AI (artificial intelligence), 5G, quantum technology, internet of things (IoT), smart devices, and other technologies, the company said.

Infosys is strong in engineering services and semiconductors is a $500 billion opportunity, said Nilanjan Roy, outgoing CFO of the company.

Further, the partnership with InSemi will help accelerate Infosys’ chip-to-cloud strategy by bringing in niche design skills at scale and complement its existing investments in AI and automation platforms and industry partnerships.

Founded in 2013, Bengaluru-based InSemi offers expertise across electronic design, platform design, automation, embedded, and software technologies. It has over 900 design specialists and serves clients globally across semiconductor, consumer electronics, automotive, and hi-tech industries.
