Apple plans to increase its production of iPhones in India by three times, suggests a new report.

Apple is planning to triple its iPhone production in India by three times. Based on a new report, it is said that Apple has plans to diversify its iPhone production out of China to other countries, and India will play a major role in this. Over the next three years, Apple has plans to increase the production of iPhones in India by three times of what it manufactures right now. Apple is yet to confirm anything officially on this front.

The information, which comes from The Mint, says that Apple has advised three of its biggest suppliers in the country to increase production capacity and manpower. Pegatron, Wistron, and Foxconn have all been asked to increase production of the iPhone models in India.

“They are looking to scale up the volumes that they make from India. It can rise by more than three times what they aim to make this year,” says the report.

iPhone production to be increased in India

Apple has already been ramping up production in India this year, with the iPhone 14 already being manufactured since October 2022. The iPhone production has been hit in China lately with the ongoing protests as well as the COVID restrictions. Other reports suggest that the Tata Group is looking to buy a major share in one of Apple’s contract manufacturer’s manufacturing facilities, or do a joint venture for making new iPhones.

An increase in production of iPhones could help Apple offset the huge boost in demand. Lately, it has been seen that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have been in huge demand, with stocks depleting from all over the world. Currently, all bookings of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max show an earliest delivery date of December 28.

This year, Apple’s revamped iPhone 14 series lineup has seen mega demand for the Pro variants, owing to a new display design, much improved cameras, better performance, and better battery life. The standard iPhone 14 models have seen lesser demand in comparison, with Apple reportedly having to curb production.
