Nine-time Grammy winner Joni Mitchell will perform at the 2024 Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy announced Sunday.

The appearance will be Mitchell’s first-ever performance at the ceremony. She is also attending the awards show as a nominee for best folk album for Joni Mitchell At Newport [Live].

Previously announced Grammy performers include Burna Boy, Luke Combs, Billie Eilish, Billy Joel, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Travis Scott and U2.

Mitchell, 80, received a Recording Academy lifetime achievement award in 2002, and was described as “one of the most important female recording artists of the rock era” and “a powerful influence on all artists who embrace diversity, imagination and integrity,” per the Academy. Over the years, she has been nominated for 18 Grammys, and won nine. In 2008, she took home album of the year for River: The Joni Letters.

SZA leads this year’s Grammy nominees, up for nine awards. Victoria Monét is nominated for seven, followed by Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo each with six. Female acts and artists dominate this year, accounting for all of the nominees in the top three categories apart from Jon Batiste.

Several songs are up for both song and record of the year, including Eilish’s Oscar-nominated “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie, “Anti-Hero” by Swift, “Kill Bill” by SZA, “Vampire” by Rodrigo and “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus.

Emmy winner Trevor Noah will host the Grammys, which will air live on CBS from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Feb. 4. The event will also stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
