Josh Peck Shows Support for Drake Bell, Survivors After ‘Quiet on Set’

Josh Peck showed his support for his former Nickelodeon peers who shared allegations of abuse and misconduct — including his former Drake and Josh co-star Drake Bell — in the new docuseries, Quiet on Set

In a note on Instagram, Peck said he needed a”few days to process” the four-part Investigation Discovery series after he finished watching it. Peck said he “reached out to Drake privately,” then said he wanted “to give my support for the survivors who were brave enough to share their stories of emotional and physical abuse on Nickelodeon sets with the world.”

Peck continued: “Children should be protected. Reliving this publicly is incredibly difficult, but I hope it can bring healing for the victims and their families as well as necessary change to our industry.”

Peck’s statement comes after the actor began receiving heated comments on social media for not speaking up in the wake of the docuseries. Bell effectively asked fans to stop on TikTok yesterday, saying: “Processing this and going through this is a really emotional time, and a lot of it’s very, very difficult, so not everything is put out to the public.”

Noting that Peck had in fact contacted him, he added: “It’s been very sensitive, but he has reached out to talk with me and help me work through this. And he’s been really, really great.”

While Peck was not part of Quiet on Set, Bell was one of its most prominent participants. While working on The Amanda Show and All That, Bell developed a close relationship with dialogue coach Brian Peck (no relation to Josh). In the series, Bell accuses Brian Peck of sexually assaulting him, saying the abuse began when he was 15.

Brian Peck was arrested on 11 charges of child sexual abuse in 2003, and a year later he pleaded no contest to two charges of child sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 16 months in jail and ordered to register as a sex offender. The identity of the accuser was not known at the time, but it has since been revealed as Bell.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Quiet on Set co-director Emma Schwartz spoke about working with Bell on the series, and finally speaking publicly about being abused. “He’s told me that he feels like a certain weight has lifted,” Schwartz said. “He’s been holding this back for so long and that hopefully in sharing it, he can continue to heal and to let people know that sharing is not as scary as it might seem. It can, in fact, help you walk forward.”

Bell has had his own struggles with mental health and legal issues over the years. He had two DUI arrests, and in 2021 he was sentenced to two years’ probation for attempted child endangerment after a young fan accused him of sending explicit messages and having sexual contact with her when she was 15. Bell has denied those allegations, and said he stopped messaging the girl her after learning her age. In Quiet on Set, he talks about taking responsibility for the endangerment charge and other self-destructive behavior.
