Jury Finds Ed Sheeran “Not Guilty”, Singer Cleared Of Charges

British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran has finally got himself out of the 32 years old copy infringement case. Apparently, the jury on Thursday cleared the singer of the charges stating that he didn’t steal the key components of Marvin Gay’s classic, “Let’s Get It On” for his own track, “Thinking Out Loud”.

After the jury took almost 2 hours to reach their conclusion, the singer found himself relieved as he briefly dropped his face in his hands before hugging his lawyer, Ilene Farkas. After leaving the court, the singer later addressed his claims about leaving the music industry if found guilty.

Talking to the reporters outside the court, Ed Sheeran said that he is indeed very happy with the outcome of the case and that he won’t be quitting music. He further stated that he is frustrated that baseless claims like such could reach the court.

For the unversed, the lawsuit was filed 32 years ago by the songwriter Ed Townsend, who released the classic Let’s Get It On with Marvin Gaye in 1973. Sheeran was accused of copying the song tune. Wred said he found the allegations really insulting. Ed Townsend’s daughter, Katherine Townsend Griffin, claimed that Mr. Sheeran copied the iconic tune during the making of his single Thinking Out Loud, which went to number one.
