Justin Timberlake Apologizes to Nobody After Britney Spears Apology – The Hollywood Reporter

Justin Timberlake had a few choice words to share during a concert performance.

While performing at a free show at Irving Plaza in New York City on his birthday Wednesday, the singer took a moment to state that has “nobody” to apologize to.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely fucking nobody,” the singer is overheard saying in fan videos from the concert circulating online, with a concertgoer confirming Timberlake’s statement to People.

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Timberlake’s reps for comment.

The statement comes after Britney Spears made an apology statement on social media Sunday in a now-deleted post shared via her Instagram, which has now gone private. In the post, Spears had shared a clip of Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show’s “Classroom Instruments” segment, writing, “I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry. I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish.’ It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ??? Ps ‘Sanctified’ is wow too.”

Spears’ post followed her fans seemingly trolling Timberlake after he released his new song “Selfish.” Following the song’s release on Friday, Spears’ 2011 song “Selfish” from her Femme Fatale album hit the No. 1 spot on iTunes, outperforming Timberlake’s song the day after its release.

Timberlake has received backlash after Spears revealed in her memoir The Woman in Me that she and the then-NSYNC member, whom she famously dated from 1999 to 2002, had an abortion during their relationship. When reflecting on the experience, Spears alleged that “Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.” She also wrote in the book, “I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”

In her memoir, Spears also addressed Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” music video, which famously starred a Spears look-alike, after their breakup. Spears claimed she was painted as a “harlot who’d broken the heart of America’s golden boy” in the media. Spears also confirmed that she kissed choreographer Wade Robson while dating Timberlake.

After Timberlake’s comments, Spears wrote on Instagram on Thursday, “Someone told me someone was talking shit about me on the streets !!! Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time ??? I’m not sorry !!!”

Timberlake has not publicly commented on Spears’ comments.
