Singer-songwriter dropped Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love? last year

Nearly a year after she dropped the excellent Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love?, Kara Jackson has announced a spring tour.

The trek, which kicks off in Jackson’s home state of Illinois on April 25, marks the singer-songwriter’s first U.S. headlining tour. She’ll head along the West Coast before hitting Songbyrd in Washington DC on May 12, followed by stops in New York and Philadelphia. The tour is set to conclude in Atlanta on May 21. Tickets go on sale Friday local time.

Jackson, a former National Youth Poet Laureate, released Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love? on the label in September. It landed at No. 8 on Rolling Stone‘s 40 Best Indie-Rock Albums of 2023 and was discussed on a recent episode of the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast.

“The name of the album is a real question: Literally, why are we put on this Earth just to love each other?” Jackson told Pitchfork last year. “It’s just a really hard thing. But I’m so lucky to have the people that I have, and to have loved them as hard as I have.”
