Karnataka Budget Session 2024: Metro Extensions and New Buses Enhance Connectivity.

With improved travel convenience and a push towards greener transport, Karnataka is on the path to a more sustainable and commuter-friendly future.

The Karnataka Budget Session 2024 began on February 12 with Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot’s opening speech.

Running until February 23, this session focuses on discussing the state’s financial plans and legislative priorities.

The Karnataka Budget Session kicks off with promising updates on the infrastructure front, as reported by Oneindia.

Anticipated projects like the Electronics City Metro and the Blue Line extension are set to transform transportation in the state.

Electronics City Metro Expansion and Blue Line Extension

The Yellow Line of the Namma Metro, connecting Bommasandra to Silk Board, is nearing completion. By July 2024, the 19 km stretch with 16 stations, including key hubs like Silk Board and HSR Layout, will be operational. This line will significantly reduce travel time for IT professionals and ease traffic congestion on Hosur Road.

The Blue Line extension, set to be completed by June 2026, will provide direct metro access from the city center to Kempegowda International Airport. Having said that, the 26.1 km stretch will feature 10 stations, including crucial stops like KR Puram and KIA itself. This project aims to enhance airport accessibility and reduce traffic congestion on major roads.

1,150 New Buses Enhance Public Transport

In a significant boost to public transportation, Karnataka has introduced 1,150 new buses over the past eight months. These buses, including electric, standard diesel, and midi variants, aim to enhance connectivity in urban and rural areas alike.

With improved travel options, the initiative aims to reduce overcrowding, enhance convenience, and encourage more people to opt for public transport, contributing to a greener and less congested Karnataka.
