The South Korean automaker, Kia, has once again launched another limited edition model of its popular sub-compact SUV, Sonet, called the Kia Sonet Aurochs Edition. The company has announced that the model will start at Rs 11.85 lakh and will be offered in four trims. According to the company, this new limited Auroch Edition model will be based on the HTX variant and will come loaded with features. Like every special edition, this one will also only boast aesthetic changes, and there will not be any mechanical alterations.

In terms of aesthetic upgrades, the new Kia Sonet Aurochs Edition will feature tangerine accents on the front grille, front and back skid plates, and doors in contrast to the standard HTX model. The Aurochs Edition logo has also been placed on the grille. Additionally, the SUV will also get a similar tangerine treatment on its side body cladding. Glacier White Pearl, Sparkling Silver, Gravity Grey, and Aurora Black Pearl are the four color choices available for the special edition.

Moving on to the interior side of things, like the exterior, not much has been changed on the inside except for the addition of a new leatherette-wrapped D-cut steering wheel with the Sonet logo. Other creature comforts and features of the Sonet include a touchscreen infotainment screen, an electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, and other now common tech and gizmos.

If you are in the market for a Kia Sonet, then recently, we found out the two most value-for-money variants that one should consider. We found that the two most VFM variants of the Kia Sonet – one petrol and one diesel – are the Sonet 1.2 HTK Plus (priced at Rs 9.64 lakhs; ex-showroom, Delhi) and the Sonet 1.5 HTK Plus Diesel (priced at Rs 11.39 lakhs; ex-showroom, Delhi).

In other Kia news, a test mule of the Sonet’s MPV sibling Carens EV iteration was recently spotted testing in South Korea. From the recent pictures of this particular test mule, it was evident that the vehicle was covered in heavy camouflage, hiding a ton of intricate details. Nevertheless, we could make out that it is an MPV and looks very similar to the Carens available in India. Some significant similarities between the Carens ICE version and this test mule were the placement of the pillars, the beltline, the wheel arches, and the slightly sloping roofline.

It is believed that the company could offer the EV iteration of the Carens with a range of around 400-500 kilometers. According to reports, this new model could feature a 99.8 kWh battery pack and can produce 350 Nm of peak torque and 201 hp of maximum power. Additionally, like the Kia EV9’s other AWD variant, it could also get an option of a 380 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque drivetrain. Prices for the Kia Carens electric might vary from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.
