Our neighboring country, the People’s Republic of China, is a manufacturing powerhouse and is known for producing everything under the sun for a fraction of the cost compared to other places. However, there are some catches behind this cheap manufacturing and one of the biggest reasons is the quality. The country is also infamous for producing replica products and in recent times the country has started producing questionable replicas and copycats of famous automobiles as well. Some of them will even shock you! So without further ado, let’s get to the list.

Toyota Land Cruiser Copy – “Kuluze”

The latest creation from China is a direct rip-off of one of the most legendary off-roading SUVs the Toyota Land Cruiser. This particular model is a copy of the latest iteration of Land Cruiser the LC 300. This one from China gets almost the exact front fascia and rear end as the real deal but in a miniature form. For a rough reference, the size of this vehicle is similar to the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R in India. As of yet, it is not confirmed if its a one-off creation or will be a production unit but it should not be a surprise if it does become more common in that country.

The British luxury carmaker Rolls Royce is known for producing some of the most opulent cars in the world and being the most sought after brand it made all the sense for the Chinese carmakers to create of copy. This particular model in called the Hongqi H9 which looks like a tackier version of the Rolls Royce’s latest iteration of the premium sedan Ghost. It boasts a massive Rolls Royce like grille at the front, a similar looking silhouette and a similar rear end as well. To give the credit where is due, the interiors of this Rolls Royce lookalike are pretty amazing and boast some high quality materials.

The more expensive “Forbidden City Edition” comes powered by a supercharged V6 petrol engine producing 283 bhp of max power and a peak torque output of 400 Nm. Additionally, there is a less powerful turbocharged, four-cylinder that produces 252 bhp of max power and 380 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are mated to a 7-speed Dual-Clutch automatic gearbox that drives the rear wheels.

Maruti Suzuki 800 – Jiangnan TT

This one is a weird one. The Jiangnan TT is an exact replica of the iconic Maruti Suzuki 800 but this not a complete rip-off of the original Indian favorite. The company Jiangnan asked the Japanese automaker Suzuki for the design patents and licensed it to produce the same vehicle in China. The company took this route to reduce the R&D and production cost.

Toyota Innova Crysta copy – Changan Lingxuan

This one vehicle is a direct copycat from China and it is a clone of the Toyota’s most popular MPV the Innova Crysta. The name of this vehicle in China is Changan Lingxuan. The Chinese cloned this Japanese MPV for the reason that it is one of the most popular MPVs in India as well a number of other South East Asian countries. Although the Changan Lingxuan resembles the Crysta almost exactly, it is substantially less expensive, as is the case with other imitation vehicles.

The Geely GE features a similar-sized grille, a comparable arrangement of the headlamps, and even a funny ripoff of the “Spirit of Ecstasy.” The Geely GE, however, only closely resembles the Phantom in appearance; it is neither as potent nor as opulent as the latter. The 3.5-litre V6 in the GE suffices in place of the massive 6.75-litre V12 of the previous generation Phantom. For those unaware Geely is the same brand that owns the Swedish multinational manufacturing corporation Volvo. It currently also owns Polestar and Lotus as well
