Launch Dates, Prices & Powertrain Revealed
Tata Motors’ electric vehicle manufacturing arm, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, is looking to extend its market share in the county in the year 2024 and 2025. The company has lined up a number of electric SUVs for this year and next year and recently revealed the launch timelines for all of these upcoming SUVs. Recently, talking to Money Control, a spokesperson from Tata Motors elaborated on the launch dates of the upcoming SUVs along with their tentative prices.
Tata Punch EV
As per the Tata spokesperson, the first electric SUV to be launched this year will be the Punch EV. It will make its official debut around February of this year and will become the most affordable EV SUV in the country with a price tag starting at Rs 9.5 lakh. The exact powertrain information for this SUV has not been revealed at the moment, but most likely, it will be offered with an enhanced iteration of the Tata Tiago EV powertrain. Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that the company will be offering the Punch EV with a 500 km range in a single full charge.
Tata Harrier EV
Next up in the pipeline is the Tata Harrier EV. The electrified version of the mid-size SUV Harrier will be launched around June 2024. As for the pricing, it will start at Rs 22 lakhs. Tata Motors has shown the concept of the Harrier EV on multiple occasions, and it will be getting a number of EV-specific design updates. Reports have suggested that the company will be offering the Harrier with a front-wheel-drive layout. However, in addition, there will be an optional dual-motor variant that will offer the SUV an AWD system. As for the battery pack, it will be getting a 60 kWh battery pack, which will offer it a range of more than 500 km.
Tata Curvv EV
Third on the list of Tata EV SUV launches this year will be the Curvv EV coupe SUV. This unique coupe-style SUV will be a distinct offering from the company, and it will be making its debut around December of this year. According to the Tata spokesperson, the Curvv EV will also be priced around Rs 22 lakh. In terms of the powertrain, the Curvv coupe SUV will come equipped with the Nexon EV facelift powertrain. This means that it could be offered with the same 30 kWh and larger 40.5 kWh battery packs. Currently, the Nexon EV facelift offers a 325 km and 465 km range in its MR (Medium Range) and LR (Long Range) variants.
Tata Sierra EV
Last on the launch roster of Tata Motors’ electric SUV range is the Sierra EV. It has been stated that this SUV will be the most expensive model in the Tata EV lineup and will be launched with a starting price of Rs 25 lakh. As for the launch timeline, it will be launched around November of 2025. No official powertrain specifications have been shared by Tata Motors. However, the Sierra SUV will be first launched as an electric-only model. But later down the line, the company will be offering ICE variants of this SUV, which will include the new company’s newly showcased 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
