A video shared on Twitter has given fans a sneak peak of the live-action Lilo and Stitch, and boy is it creepy.

You might be tired of the frequent live-action remakes released every year, but Disney isn’t tired of money. Filming has clearly begun on its latest do-over with real people, as the cast and crew were spotted filming in Hawaii. Someone was even able to capture a video of one particular scene being filmed.

Yes, it does feature Stitch, and no, they haven’t cast a real-life blue alien, sadly. Instead, the clip shows a weird puppet being used as a stand-in for what will obviously be a CG character created in post-production.

There’s something off about seeing the lifeless puppet being dragged around that’s hard to put into words. At least they’ve got the look of the character right to an extent, although it’s hard to tell from the distance the video was shot at. In fact, it’s hard to judge anything from this clip alone. The look of the character could completely change when it comes time to go over the stand in with CG anyways.

It’s already been attacked by fans for the casting decisions, with issues surrounding racism and colorism being brought to the forefront of the discussion. All things considered, this remake is starting to look doomed to fail already.

It’s a tad unfair to judge the Lilo & Stitch based off of this clip alone. Hopefully, the latter won’t look like a lifeless body being dragged all over the place in the finished product. The question is, will it look good enough to persuade fans who are on the fence about its very existence?
