Actor Adam Scott reveals that he couldn’t pass on the chance to appear in a spin-off film for one of the most successful franchises in the MCU.

According to Collider, the Big Little Lies star said that he seized the opportunity to appear in the upcoming Marvel movie Madame Webb with both hands. He explained:

“I actually didn’t think I was gonna work over the summer before we started Severance up again because we started in October, and I wasn’t planning on working at all before then. Then this came up, and I couldn’t resist.”

The plot of the upcoming Madame Web film is unknown. Rumor has it that it might be a prequel to the Spider-Man storylines as it takes place in New York around the last millennium.

Scott remained tight-lipped about his role in the movie as Marvel Studios has sworn him to secrecy. The buzz is that he may play the part of Ben Parker, Peter’s uncle.

“It’s a really fun world and a great role, but I can’t really say that much about it other than it’s cool and fun.”

The basis of the narrative is the comic book series about a blind mutant called Cassandra Webb, the first in a long lineage of Spider-Women. Webb possesses psychic powers, including precognition, telepathy, and astral projection. Her extrasensory gifts have adapted to compensate for her blindness.

The Madame Web film has been in development since 2019. Actor Dakota Johnson will play the titular role. In addition to Scott, the film will star Michael Epps, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Zosia Mamet, and Emma Roberts.

As Madame Webb is part of the Spider-Man universe, Scott wants the web slinger’s fans to know that the film will exceed their expectations. The film’s premise sounds fascinating, as fans will be curious about Cassandra Webb’s connection to the Parker family.

The theatrical release date for Madame Web is Feb. 16, 2024.
