Many auto and driving enthusiasts in India marvel at the roads constructed amidst the treacherous geographical conditions of the Himalayas in Northern India. Thanks to the Border Roads Organization (BRO), an integral part of the Indian Army, several roads leading to unimaginable destinations in the Himalayas across challenging terrains have become a reality. Recently, the BRO accomplished a remarkable feat by driving the first set of vehicles to the Amarnath Cave in Jammu and Kashmir via a newly constructed road.

The two vehicles that marked this historic journey to the Amarnath Cave were a Mahindra Bolero Camper as the lead vehicle and a Tata 1210 SE truck. A video capturing these vehicles reaching the Amarnath Cave through the BRO’s newly constructed road has been uploaded by “Mojo Story” on its YouTube channel.

The video commences with the two vehicles navigating the widened stretch of road leading to Barari Marg, a section completed in June 2023. These vehicles are part of “Team Beacon,” the BRO team responsible for the entire road construction project up to the Amarnath Cave.

Subsequently, the vehicles progress towards the Sangam Base from the Y Junction post Barari Marg, traversing a newly expanded road. After reaching Sangam Base, the vehicles proceed towards Sangam Top via the newly aligned stretch. The video captures the vehicles ascending the snow-covered Sangam Top, highlighting the newly constructed road amid the challenging terrain.

Continuing their journey, the vehicles navigate the final stretch of the road, beginning from Sangam Top to the lower cave, across a newly expanded section. Eventually, the vehicles lead towards the holy cave from the lower cave via a freshly constructed pathway with increased width compared to the previous route. The video emphasizes that the roads are still in the development phase, awaiting the final layer of tarmac. Nevertheless, the expanded stretches have enabled vehicles to travel and reach the cave.

Furthermore, the Mahindra Bolero Camper demonstrates its durability and capability in conquering challenging terrains. As one of the most popular commercial vehicles used in Northern India, the Mahindra Bolero Camper is favored by locals and tour operators for its ability to withstand tough climatic and terrain conditions. Notably, it is among the few entry-level light-duty pickup trucks offering a four-wheel-drive system, enabling effective off-road travel.
