After umpteen sightings of test mules of Mahindra Scorpio in the last couple of years, it looks like the launch of new-generation Mahindra Scorpio is inching towards reality. According to Rushlane, the official product and feature training sessions of the all-new Mahindra Scorpio for the dealer employees will begin in June 2022.

The recent reports indicated that the new generation Mahindra Scorpio will debut on 15th August 2022. Mahindra is following a tradition of unveiling its new-generation products on the Independence Day of India for the last two years, with the official unveiling of Thar in 2020 and XUV700 in 2021.

With that perspective, Mahindra might be unveiling the all-new generation Scorpio on 15th August 2020. Before that, the UV maker wants to make all of its dealer outlet employees fully aware of the attributes and technical details of the new model. Coincidentally, the original Scorpio made its first-ever debut in India twenty years ago in June 2002.

The infinite spy shots of the Scorpio, which we have been seeing for the last couple of years, have revealed a lot about how the new model will look inside-out. The new version of the Scorpio will continue to have an upright and boxy stance, which is well-complemented by modern-looking elements like dual-pod LED projector headlamps and daytime running LEDs, Volvo-squee vertically-aligned LED tail lamps, machined alloy wheels and front and rear skid plates. It will also get a sideward-opening back door, side steps and roof rails, like the current model.

Compared to the currently-available model, the new-generation Scorpio will have a much more modern-looking cabin with contemporary features, if not as luxurious as the XUV700. The spy shots of the cabin reveal that it will come with a dual-tone black and walnut brown upholstery, with features like a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, TFT MID between analogue dials of the instrument console, push start-stop button, automatic climate control, wireless charger, single-pane sunroof and roof-mounted speakers for the audio system, all of which are new to the Scorpio. It will also get features like six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a drive mode selector and forward-facing second and third row of seats.

While the powertrain details are not available, the new Mahindra Scorpio will retain the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine from the XUV700 with both 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options, though the engines will be in lower states of tune.
