Mahindra Scorpio-N becomes the fastest SUV to cross Simpson Desert in Australia
The Mahindra Scorpio-N has already established several records in India, and now it has achieved a new milestone by securing a Guinness World Record. The Scorpio-N recently entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the ‘fastest crossing of the Simpson Desert by a production vehicle’.
The Simpson Desert, located in Australia, stretches 385 km, and the Mahindra Scorpio-N completed this challenging terrain in just 13 hours, setting a new world record. The record-breaking desert run was led by professional drivers Gene Corbett and Ben Robinson, accompanied by a team of photographers and videographers who documented the entire feat.

Having already attained success in the Indian car market, the Mahindra Scorpio-N is now expanding its influence internationally and showcasing its capabilities in global markets, including Australia. With this Guinness World Record under its belt, Mahindra aims to strengthen its presence in the Australian car market with the Scorpio-N, which has already garnered positive reviews since its introduction. The Mahindra Scorpio is available in two variants in Australia, namely the Z8 and Z8L, which represent the top-spec trims of the Mahindra Scorpio-N sold in India. Both variants come equipped with a 4XPLOR four-wheel-drive system as standard, along with features such as a low-range gearbox, mechanical differential lock, electronic brake differential, and off-road driving modes including Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud/Ruts, and Sand.

In Australia, both Scorpio variants are powered by a standard 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. This engine delivers a maximum power output of 175 PS and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, and it comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission as the standard gearbox. It should be noted that the India-spec Scorpio-N also offers a 6-speed manual gearbox option.
The Mahindra Scorpio (or Scorpio-N) starts at $41,990 for the Z8 variant, while the top-spec Z8L is priced at $45,999 in Australia. The SUV is available in five attractive color options, including Everest White, Deep Forest, Rage Red, Dazzling Silver, and Napoli Black.
