Mahindra XUV500, Maruti Dzire & many other cars washed away in Gujarat floods [Video]

Many Indian states are currently experiencing heavy rainfall. We recently heard news about the floods in Delhi, and weeks later, we now have reports from Gujarat with similar news. Several districts in Gujarat have been receiving heavy rainfall, resulting in flooding or flood-like situations in many regions. Junagadh city is one of the most affected areas in Gujarat. Severe rain has caused flooding in numerous urban areas, and many villages have also been cut off due to rising water levels in rivers and dams.

We have come across a video from Gujarat where several vehicles parked outside a residential society can be seen getting destroyed in floodwaters. The video has been shared by Aarti on her Twitter page. Although the exact location from where the video was shot is not mentioned, the post confirms that the visuals are from Gujarat. It appears that the region has been experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to a nearby river overflowing. The video shows several cars parked outside a house being destroyed. Water is flowing heavily through the street, resembling a river, and a Mahindra XUV500 can be seen on the road, almost entirely submerged.

It is not clear whether this was a flash flood-like situation or if it happened over a period of time. We would like to believe it was a flash flood, given the number of cars on the road. We assume that if the owners of the cars had noticed the water level rising, they would have parked their vehicles on higher ground. Unfortunately, in this case, it appears that the owners did not have enough time to respond. The flow of water through the street is so strong that the front of the XUV500 is completely underwater. Additionally, a Maruti Dzire sedan can be seen floating in the water.

Apart from these two cars, there is a Hyundai Grand i10 parked next to the house from where the video was recorded. We also see a couple of more SUVs in the water. All the houses in the region had water in their compounds, and the scooters and bikes parked inside the premises were also underwater. It is undoubtedly a horrifying video to watch. Fortunately, it does not appear that there were occupants trapped in any of the cars seen in the video. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has already issued Red, Orange, and Yellow alerts to various districts in Gujarat until 24 July.

If you ever find yourself in such a situation, never try to start the vehicle. Even after the water level has gone down, it is not recommended to start the vehicle. Always take your vehicle to an authorized service center on a flatbed to get it inspected and serviced. Most modern vehicles have sensors and several other electrical components, making the chances of a short circuit quite high. Similarly, there is a risk of water getting into the car’s engine. To avoid any of these problems in the future, take your flood-affected vehicle to the service center before hitting the road.
