Mahindra XUV700 AWD recalled again, this time for rear suspension issues

Mahindra is carrying out another recall for its flagship offering – the XUV700. According to Team-BHP, the new recall is meant to fix rear suspension issues in the all-wheel drive variants of the XUV700. While Mahindra has yet to announce the exact number of XUV700s recalled, it’s not likely to be a big number. Mahindra offers the all wheel drive option on the XUV700 Diesel, and typically sales of the XUV700 AWD is just a small fraction of the overall SUV’s sales in India.

The latest recall is meant to identify and fix a potential rear suspension issue on the XUV700. The recall will check if the SUV has a 8 ring shock absorber at the rear. The correct version of the suspension should have 9 rings. If the XUV700 AWD has less than 8 rings, the suspension will be swapped with a 9 ring unit. Earlier this month, Mahindra has recalled the XUV700 AWD for a potential propshaft issue.

Launched in 2021, the Mahindra XUV700 has been a runaway success right from the word go. The SUV’s waiting list is massive, with waiting times of certain variants stretching to over a year. The XUV700’s shock pricing at launch and the impressive feature-set are two key reasons why the SUV has done do well. The ADAS suite offered on the XUV700 includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, high beam assist, traffic sign identification and a driver drowsiness system. Both engines get 6 speed manual and torque converter automatic gearbox options. The all wheel drive feature is offered only on the diesel trims of the vehicle. The regular variants of the SUV are front wheel driven. The SUV is sold with 5 seat and 7 seat options. Prices start from Rs. 13.18 lakh, ex-showroom.
