Mahindra XUV700 vs Mercedes-Benz A-Class limousine in a drag race [Video]

Mahindra launched XUV700 last year and it quickly became a popular SUV in its segment. One of the main reason behind its success was the competitive price tag and several first in segment features. Mahindra XUV700 competes with cars like MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari in the segment. We have seen several performance and features related videos of XUV700 online. There are several drag race videos for the XUV700 as well. Here we have one such drag race video where the XUV700 is seen competing against a Mercedes-Benz A-Class limousine.

The video has been uploaded by Rachit Rojha Vlogs on his YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger who owns a Mahindra XUV700 competes with a Mercedes-Benz A-Class limousine in  a drag race. To start the race, both vlogger and his friend take their cars to a closed road. There were no vehicles on the road at the time of the race. Before they started the race, both of them drove each others vehicles to get an idea about what they are competing against with. After taking the car for a short spin both of them line up the cars on the start line.

Vlogger was driving the Mahindra XUV700 while his friend was in the Mercedes-Benz. The race started and Mahindra XUV700 moved off the line quickly. It looked like Mahindra might win the race but, within seconds everything changed. Mercedes-Benz soon minimised the gap and took the lead. It maintained the lead throughout the race and won the first round. Before the race started, both vlogger and his friend had mentioned in the video that they had never done anything like this before and this was their first drag race. They come back to the start line and then prepare for the second round.

 

In the second round, Mercedes-Benz got a better start and it took lead in the race from a very early stage. Mahindra XUV700 can be seen behind it but it could not overtake the SUV at any point of time. The Mahindra XUV700 driver can be heard saying in the video that his XUV700 and he is unable to make shifts properly. The Mercedes on the other hand gets an automatic transmission which means, the driver just has to keep the accelerator pedal pressed. For the third round, driver’s swapped the cars. The vlogger was now driving the Mercedes while his friend was in the XUV700.

The third and the last round race starts and as expected Mercedes-Benz was in the lead. The A-Class sedan won the third round and it was announced as the winner of the race. There were several reasons why Mercedes-Benz won the race even though it was competing against a much more powerful vehicle. The Mahindra XUV700 petrol version is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine that generates 200 Ps and 380 Nm of peak torque. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan petrol version is powered by a 1.4 litre turbocharged engine that generates 160 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The weight of the car, gearbox and also the design of the car helped it win the race.
